Learn More About What I Do

My "modus operandi" is to set my clients apart from their competition. So I focus on creating visually appealing designs that are highly functional and ensure user-friendly experiences that their customers will love. Below are some of my projects. Feel free to browse through and see if something inspires you.

Aurora Labs Demo Car

Aurora Labs first outing with this Demo Car was at EcoMotion in May 2019. Their stand was very popular and received many accolades from the Automotive design industry.
I worked tirelessly on this project and am very proud of the final result.

Deep Learning Robotics "Head"

I am especially proud of my work on the Robot Head project.
This project was the result of many hours of brainstorming, creating, and innovating various design iterations until I finally reached this functional and friendly-faced end result.

Harman Demo Console

This project managed to perfectly balance my innovative ideas with the vision and unique preferences of my client.

Argus Demo Console I

Argus is the world’s largest, independent automotive cyber security company working to protect connected cars and commercial vehicles from car-hacking. Internet connectivity provided by vehicle infotainment systems can increase road safety and improve the driving experience, but the more vehicles become connected, the more vulnerable they are to cyber attacks.
In order to demonstrate their technologies and specific circuit boards (in this case – Infineon’s) at world trade shows, Argus contracted Colton Design to create for them a suitable demo console. The proviso was that it must incorporate a car instrument cluster, an Android touchscreen and all the electronics. We added the “make it look cool” quotient.

Argus Demo Console II

Argus contracted Colton design again following the success and well-received performance of the original demo consoles – one of which was presented to Infineon, a world leader in semiconductor solutions.
This project was in conjunction with other partners – Qualcomm and Elektrobit. The demo consoles were to feature their technologies too. So, new partners, new design.
These consoles were displayed at CES 2016 in Las Vegas and one of them is currently touring America (45 cities!) on the NXP Smarter World Tour.

Red Bend Demo Console

Red Bend is a software company that has developed a high-tech solution for car dashboards. It enables two operating systems to run from a single motherboard: a Linux-based instrument cluster and an Android infotainment system.
Colton Design was contracted to design and build consoles for the necessary equipment with the provision that they must resemble a car dashboard and be reasonably small and light. They are intended for demonstration use at trade shows and meetings with car manufacturers globally. Due to this requirement we also produced a carry case for each console with a laser-cut foam insert that fit like a glove.
It was important for us to incorporate into the console design Red Bend’s logo to give it a more distinct touch.
Additionally, telecoms giant AT&T loved this console so much that they commissioned one for themselves and it is on permanent display in their AT&T Drive Studio.

Cylindrical Router

Technically this is a modem-router with the antenna incorporated within the structure of the case. Yes, it saves desk-space, but primarily it was designed to be an “objet d’art” in a world where every other modem-router is a square, grey and dull box with an antenna jutting in an ungainly fashion out of the back.

Speaker Lily

The "Speaker Lily" was inspired by a simple vase of white lilies and their intrinsic beauty. Each speaker can be twisted and turned individually to position for optimal listening pleasure. The vase itself houses the ports for connection to electricity and input sources such as a smartphone, music player, stereo system, television or DVD player.

DVD Paperclip

This paperclip shaped DVD holder, whilst refined and minimalist, offers a vertical or horizontal storage solution for up to 25 standard DVD cases. It can be wall-mounted or placed on a flat surface and is easy to organize and clean. Left empty, it could easily be mistaken as an ornament. The "DVD Paperclip" is crafted from aluminum with a brushed or polished finish.

Sit & Stow

The “Sit + Stow” is intended for any public place where you might be concerned about the security of your bag or purse, such as a cafe, bar, restaurant or even the library. Your personal items can be safely tucked under the seat instead of being left on the floor or dangling at the side of your chair where they can be reached by the less scrupulous members of society.

Splat

Flat tires suck! Adding tire sealant to a bicycle tire is a really simple way to avoid one. I once got a pushpin stuck in my rear tire for a month, but because the anti-flat goo filled the hole around it, the air didn’t escape.
A large bike shop commissioned this bottle for their special blend of tire sealant and we called it “Splat”.
